About Me

Hi, I'm Galina Rakhamimova, a Certified Trichologist through the International Association of Trichologists.

After beginning my career in the high-tech industry, I transitioned into trichology to combine my analytical background with my desire to help others. Through evidence-based scalp analysis and personalized recommendations, I help clients better understand the factors affecting their hair and scalp health and develop effective at-home care routines.

This consultation includes a detailed hair and scalp assessment using a trichoscope (digital scalp microscope). The device allows close examination of the scalp, hair follicles, and individual hair strands to evaluate overall scalp health.

During the session, I will:

  • Examine the scalp and hair follicles to identify signs of different types of hair loss and evaluate follicle health, hair density, breakage patterns, and scalp condition.

  • Assess scalp characteristics such as inflammation, buildup, oil balance, and other factors that may affect hair growth.

  • Review lifestyle factors that may influence hair health, including but not limited to diet, stress and hair care practices,.

  • Informationally discuss any relevant lab results you may have that could relate to hair health.

  • Provide a personalized at-home treatment and care plan based on the findings, including guidance on scalp care, hair care practices, cosmetic products, nutrition, and non-prescription supplements that may support healthier hair growth.

A Follow-Up Trichological Consultation is designed to monitor your progress and adjust your hair and scalp care plan as needed.

During this session, I’ll reassess your scalp and hair condition using the trichoscope to compare changes since your initial examination.

We’ll review how your personalized recommendations have been working, discuss any new concerns, and refine your treatment plan based on your response so far. This is a valuable opportunity to ensure you're on the right path and to make any necessary adjustments to support continued improvement and long-term hair health.

Trichology is the scientific study of the hair and scalp in regards to its disorders and diseases.  It stems from the Greek word ‘trichos’, meaning ‘hair’.

A trichologist specializes in all matters relating to hair and scalp health. They provide a prognosis, identify, and help manage all forms of hair loss, hair shaft, and scalp conditions. Trichologists are often the first to recognize early signs of internal imbalances that manifest through the hair and scalp.

During a consultation, a trichologist will conduct a comprehensive assessment, which includes a detailed lifestyle history, as well as a scalp and hair analysis using a specialized microscope. This allows for a clearer understanding of the issue and helps determine the most suitable management plan. If the underlying cause of the condition lies outside the trichologist’s scope, they will refer the client to the appropriate medical professionals, such as dermatologists, endocrinologists, or primary care physicians.

Trichologists are not licensed healthcare providers but are trained in the study of hair and scalp health. They have knowledge of factors that may influence hair and scalp condition, including lifestyle factors, nutrition, cosmetic ingredients and product formulations. Trichologists also use trichoscopy (digital scalp microscopy) to closely observe the scalp, hair follicles, and hair shafts, helping identify patterns associated with various scalp conditions and types of hair loss.

Trichologists gain their qualifications by completing a trichology certification program. I received my certification through the International Association of Trichologists (IAT)—a globally recognized and respected institution in the field.

A trichologist helps people who have problems with their hair or scalp. A person may complain of sudden excessive hair loss from all over the scalp, a bald patch which has suddenly appeared, or itching and excessive scaling of the scalp. You don’t have to have a hair problem to consult a trichologist: many people choose to do so because they want advice on keeping their hair and scalp in tip top condition and so reduce the risk of hair loss.

Dermatologists are valuable medical professionals, but they often:

    • See patients for very short appointments
    • Don't always investigate lifestyle, nutrition, or hair care products
    • Dermatologists often wait until hair loss is visibly advanced to intervene, typically relying on medications. In contrast, I offer a more natural, holistic approach—focusing on early intervention, root-cause analysis, and personalized, non-pharmaceutical treatment plans tailored to each individual.

Before your appointment, you’ll complete a detailed questionnaire covering your lifestyle, diet, hair care routine, medications, and family history of hair or scalp conditions. This helps provide a comprehensive understanding of factors that may influence your hair and scalp health.

During the consultation, I will review your concerns and perform a thorough scalp and hair assessment using a specialized microscope (50x–200x magnification) to closely observe the scalp, follicles, and hair shafts.

Based on these observations, I will provide educational guidance and personalized recommendations for hair care, styling, and wellness routines, and may informationally suggest dietary changes or over-the-counter supplements that could support healthy hair.
